Hawkquest

We had an amazing visit from Hawkquest! They brough in a Pergrine Falcon, Great Horned Owl, Harris Hawk and a Bald Eagle.

Our first graders learned about the different birds, how their beaks and feet help them survive and how we can help take care of birds.

We enjoyed answering questions, seeing them fly and learning more.

Bird Beak Challenges

Our crew has loved becoming ornithologists and learning all about birds.

We have learned that all bird have feet, feathers, wings, beaks and hatch from eggs.

We explored bird beaks and how they help through some fun challenges.

Future Silver Spruce Crew

We had a wonderful Shadow Day with students from Acres Green! We had another first grade class join our crew for the morning.

We enjoyed getting to know each other through some fun crew games. We made connections and found things that we had in common.

We enjoyed eating lunch together, playing and creating some artwork for Silver Spruce next year.

Valentine's Day

We had such a fun Valentines Day!

Our crew enjoyed playing bingo, painting a fun craft, eating snacks and spending times together.

We showed compassion to each other by writing kind notes this week, giving "heartprints" to each other and playing together. Thank you to all the families that helped make today special by donating items, coming in and running fun activities.

Sun, Moon and Stars

Our Crew loved the module Sun, Moon and Stars. We used fictional stories and fables to help us learn about the patterns of the Sun, Moon and Stars. We learned how the Sun and Moon appear to rise and set.

Students researched through pictures, books and videos about the Sun, Moon and Stars.

We reflected on our own days and the books we read to create our own Sun Poem. Students wrote a poem describing the Sun and what "it sees".

Our class enjoyed celebrating with Ms. Liz's class and sharing our hard work.

Special Dance Celebration Of Learning

Wow! What a great Celebration of Learning. Our students were so proud to showcase their hard work.

Over the last few weeks students collaborated in groups to create a logo, create a dance and build costumes.

Our crew showed the Habits of Character by respecting each others ideas, collaborating to make costumes and showing compassion by welcoming all kinds of cool dance moves.

Winter Wonderland of Fun

We had such a fun Winter Wonderland Day.

We started the day with our Winter Wonderland of Reading. Students enjoyed reading together and with families!

We had fun at our class party. Students enjoyed Bingo, rice crispy treat decorating and a fun snowman craft.
