Planetarium
What a fun adventure! The first grade crew loved getting to listen to a presentation at the Gates Planetatrium. We observed the moon and stars and learned how they look around the world.
Next, we got to explore the Space exhibit. Students loved the interactive experiences of touching rocks from outer space, using tools to model a space rover and getting to explore the exhibit.
We can't wait to learn more about the Sun, Moon and Stars in our next expedition.

We have enjoyed closly reading The Most Magnificient Thing and The Little Red Pen. Through these readings we say different tools doing their jobs as well as the Habits of Character- perserverence, collaboration and iniative.
Next, students wokred in groups to create a magnificient thing for our classroom. Students needed to come up with an idea, collect tools, make a plan and collaborate to create the item. Our crew did a great job creating some signs for our room and working together.

Celebration of Learning
What a special evening! Thank you so much for taking the time to come, listen to your child and learn more about birds.
I am so amazed by our first graders. They researched, asked questions, observed and wrote some amazing high quality bird books. I learned more about birds each day with them.
It was so fun getting to hear each child's reflections at each station and share what was important to them.

Hawk Quest
We had a wonderful experience and has the oppoirtunity for Hawk Quest to visit the first grade crew! We were able to see a Harris Haw, A Peregrine Falcon, a Great Horned Owl and a Bald Eagle!
This was a special experience and we loved sharing our knowledge as well as learning more things! We learned that the Great Horned Owl can turn its heads 270 degrees. The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal on Earth and can go 240 mph in a dive.
We also loved getting to see things up close! We had learned about birds feet at the begining of our expedition and were able to see each of the birds toes and how they functioned in a different way.
