Last Day of School

What an amazing last day of school and last day of Fox Creek Elementary.

As things changes, grade levels, rooms and classmates the heart of who we are will stay the same. Our crew enjoyed showing the Habits of Character through many different activities.

We liked celebrating with a Northstar assesmbly, fun classroom activities and bubbles and chalk.

Cheese Ranch

We had such a fun adventure to Cheese Ranch! Thank you to all the families that supported us.

Our crew saw so many birds! We obsereved a hummming bird, ducks, blue jays, hawks and many more.

We loved learning about birds and seeing them in their habitats. I hope you enjoy some bird watching this summer.

Celebration of Learning

We had such a fun Celebration of Learning. Our crew loved sharing their learning and bird riddles with you!

During our expedition students learned "What makes a bird a bird" and discovered they all have feet, feathers, wings, beaks and come from eggs.

After learning all about bird body parts and how they help thjey became a bird expert and researched a Colorado bird.

Cheese Ranch Fieldtrip

Our first graders had a great time walking to Cheese Ranch. Thank you to all of the volunteers who joined us!

We saw and heard lots of birds! We saw ducks, hawks, chickidess, nuthatches and many more. We even saw a duck egg.

Our crew enjoyed exploring, listening and being together.

Hawkquest

We had an amazing visit from Hawkquest! They brough in a Pergrine Falcon, Great Horned Owl, Harris Hawk and a Bald Eagle.

Our first graders learned about the different birds, how their beaks and feet help them survive and how we can help take care of birds.

We enjoyed answering questions, seeing them fly and learning more.

Bird Beak Challenges

Our crew has loved becoming ornithologists and learning all about birds.

We have learned that all bird have feet, feathers, wings, beaks and hatch from eggs.

We explored bird beaks and how they help through some fun challenges.

Future Silver Spruce Crew

We had a wonderful Shadow Day with students from Acres Green! We had another first grade class join our crew for the morning.

We enjoyed getting to know each other through some fun crew games. We made connections and found things that we had in common.

We enjoyed eating lunch together, playing and creating some artwork for Silver Spruce next year.

Valentine's Day

We had such a fun Valentines Day!

Our crew enjoyed playing bingo, painting a fun craft, eating snacks and spending times together.

We showed compassion to each other by writing kind notes this week, giving "heartprints" to each other and playing together. Thank you to all the families that helped make today special by donating items, coming in and running fun activities.

Sun, Moon and Stars

Our Crew loved the module Sun, Moon and Stars. We used fictional stories and fables to help us learn about the patterns of the Sun, Moon and Stars. We learned how the Sun and Moon appear to rise and set.

Students researched through pictures, books and videos about the Sun, Moon and Stars.

We reflected on our own days and the books we read to create our own Sun Poem. Students wrote a poem describing the Sun and what "it sees".

Our class enjoyed celebrating with Ms. Liz's class and sharing our hard work.

Special Dance Celebration Of Learning

Wow! What a great Celebration of Learning. Our students were so proud to showcase their hard work.

Over the last few weeks students collaborated in groups to create a logo, create a dance and build costumes.

Our crew showed the Habits of Character by respecting each others ideas, collaborating to make costumes and showing compassion by welcoming all kinds of cool dance moves.

Winter Wonderland of Fun

We had such a fun Winter Wonderland Day.

We started the day with our Winter Wonderland of Reading. Students enjoyed reading together and with families!

We had fun at our class party. Students enjoyed Bingo, rice crispy treat decorating and a fun snowman craft.

So much to be thankful for

Our crew had a great week reflecting on things we were thankful for!

We enjoyed writing notes to each other, sharing each day some gratitude and doing fun projects together.

We made turkey hats and refelcted on things we were thankful for.

Our crew loved the Turkey Trot and did a great job showing the Habits of Character.

Celebration of Learning

We finished our first expedition Tools and Work! Students were so proud to sharing their learning with you!

We learned that tools can help us do different jobs and can make work easier.

Students completed challenges that helped them learn about different tools and that we also need Habits of Character to be successful.

Students then collbaorted to create a magniicient thing!

Pumpkin Fun

We had a fun day celebrating fall and doing some fun pumpkin crafts and games.

We collaborated as a crew to pass a spider ring around the circle! Students were respectful, collabortive and creative.

We loved createing some fun pumpkins!

Tools Can Help Us Do Our Work- Challenges

Our first graders have loved starting our first module, Tools! We have been recieving mystery letters from Headquaters with challenges to help us learn about tools and the habits of character needed to do work.

We have been working togther to solve different challenges by using the correct tools, working togther and even reading books to learn more.

We have enjoyed reading The Most Magnificient Thing and Little Red Pen. These books helped us learn the importantce of collaboration, perserverance and taking iniative.

Happy Start of the Year

We had a great start to the year! We have enjoyed reading books with each other and even had a special visit from Ms. Cheryl (principal) and Ms. Amanda (assistant principal).

Our crew has been learning each others names, playing games and learning about how to work together in class.
