Happy Start of the Year

We had a great start to the year! We have enjoyed reading books with each other and even had a special visit from Ms. Cheryl (principal) and Ms. Amanda (assistant principal).
Our crew has been learning each others names, playing games and learning about how to work together in class.

Start of Summer Celebrations

We had a wonderful end to the year. We celebrated our year and all that we learned in some fun ways! We enjoyed a fieldwork trip to Cheese Ranch to observe birds and explore.
We had a wonderful Celebration of Learning. Students enjoyed reading books, sharing their writing and exploring bird items.
We enjoyed our end of year Celebrations! First grade did a bubble, chalk and popsicle party and loved the end of the year BBQ.

Celebration of Learning

We had a wonderful Celebration of Learning! Thank you so much for coming, listening to your child and making this event so special!
Our crew has loved learning about non-fiction text features and researching to learn more about birds! Students have applied their knowledge to write a informative beak book as well as became an expert to create a riddle.
We loved getting to explore the muesum, create a bird feeder and share our work with you.
We hope you continue to learn and observe birds this summer!

Cheese Ranch Fieldwork trip

We had a fun adventure to Cheese Ranch to observe different birds! We loved getting to explore a few different locations and look for signs of birds.
Our crew saw a toad, lots of ducks, geese, pelcicans and some song birds too!
Our crew did a great job following directions, showing respect to nature and having fun!

Better World Day

We had a special Better World Day! Each year our school celebartes this special day and contributes to making the world a better place. This year each grade level contributed to our garden and learning about composting.
We learned about what items can be composted, visited the garden and mixed compost and helped pick up trash we found outside.

Hawkquest

We have loved learning about birds and what helps them survive.
We had a special visit from Hawkquest. We learned about a few different birds and how we can help.
Students got to see a harris hawk, barn owl, perigrine falcon and a bald eagle.

What makes a bird a bird?

We have started our third expedition- Birds! We reflected on what all birds have and what some birds have.
We learned that all birds have beaks, feathers, wings and feet.
We learned that some birds fly, birds can be diffrent colored and birds eat different things.
We can't wait to keep learning more about bird body parts and how they help them survive!
